Tea For Madeleine
2-channel sound installation, 4:05 mins loops, lime blossom tea, madeleines, 2015
The sound installation presents a conversation in which each of the two speakers stays in his own world. Single words from the other are the stimulus to further stories and statements. None of the two listens to the other. The stimulus words are the opportunity for each speaker to tell as much as possible about himself, to present his opinion and status to the other, - who is not listening either.
The installation with lime-blossom tea and madeleine refers to the madeleine episode of Marcel Proust’s In Search of Lost Time. In this scene the taste of a madeleine dipped in lime-blossom tea catapults the narrator back into a long-forgotten chapter of his past.
